This evening (July 6, 2020), the School Board approved the plan I presented regarding the reopening of Clear Creek Christian School on August 6th, 2020. I want to thank the board for their guidance and support as we navigate the difficult reopening phase of schools. I also want to commend all of you for exercising patience and restraint as this process has progressed. I know it was not easy to wait!
The plan we presented was shaped by many people. I want to thank the teachers, staff, and parents who took the time to call, email, or schedule an appointment with me in person to share their hopes for this plan. Two task force meetings with various stakeholders were called as well. I relied heavily upon the guidance of the American Association of Pediatricians whose report was central to supporting our own belief that students belong in school unless it is absolutely necessary to keep them out. The AAP stated in their comprehensive guidance document, "Policies to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 within schools must be balanced with the known harms to children, adolescents, families, and the community by keeping children at home." We have also been in regular communication with the Monroe County Health Department and I am happy to say they have given us an enthusiastic approval of the plan. Lastly, and I hope it goes without saying, this plan has been covered in prayer by myself, teachers, staff, and the School Board.
The plan is both comprehensive and flexible. Central to the plan is the idea that is must be able to adapt quickly should the evidence require that. The plan allows us to loosen or tighten our policies quickly if the situation calls for it.

Now that we know school will be reopening, I want you to save the dates below. More details will be shared next week, but for now, please make sure you can attend a fun back to school event!
- Monday, August 3: Grades 1, 3, and 5
- Tuesday, August 4: Grades K, 4, and 6
- Wednesday, August 5: Grade 2
At the back to school night, you will be able to drop off supplies that we're collecting for classes this year. Because we cannot share supplies in the ways we are used to, we did add a few items to the supply list. However, we also removed some supplies we've asked for in the past so hopefully, there is a negligible difference in what you usually plan to purchase for the school year. As I've mentioned in previous communication, the CCCS family has rallied around us in this time. I thank God for putting me in the position I find myself daily and look forward to the time I get to meet each of you. CCCS is a special place and we will use this opportunity to grow and improve.
